Finally, we can announce that we are arranging the Gällivare minority language festival on 3-4 September at Gällivare Hembygdsområde. As in previous years, there will be wonderful music, local food, long-awaited meetings, and local art, literature, and workshops. And much more.
Gällivare minority language festival is a non-chargeable meeting place where you can speak and experience Finnish, Lule Sámi, Meänkielin, and Northern Sámi, the minority languages managed by Gällivare municipality. The festival is for everyone who feels a sense of belonging or interest in the languages. And even you who are just curious and want to know more should of course get there.
Through music, storytelling, crafts, theater, food, and other cultural elements, we elevate the languages and create a common platform for the languages spoken in the land for a long time.
We in the cultural association Giella Kieli are incredibly happy to now be able to focus on a festival on-site in Gällivare Hembygdsområde. We and everyone with us are really excited to finally meet and meet again. As far as possible, we will implement the festival’s program items outdoors and that we follow the Public Health Agency’s restrictions regarding public events. We are ready to adjust and adapt to the restrictions that will prevail in September.
Feel free to share our event on Facebook and help us spread the word.
We will release the various program items during the summer, so follow us on Facebook and stay updated.
Do you want to participate in the festival or do you have questions for us? Send a message to the culture association Giella Kieli on Facebook or email email@example.com
Many thanks to our financiers and sponsors who make the festival possible:
Department of Language and Folklore
The Cultural Council
We follow the advice of the public health authority. On the 15th of August, we will announce how the festival will be conducted. We plan for a physical festival but adapt to the current situation.
